spencer edwards of propr postur is dapper incarnate. his sense of personal style is admiral in the sense that it is so well developed and consistently good. i could easily see him rolling with the gentleman of street etiquette. spencer and i get along well because he’s one of the few that actually exemplifies that fashion should be fun, and that there’s no reason for snubbing one another!

lately this is what i don’t leave the house without (clockwise): 1- water or tea. 2- camera of some sort. in this case, my minolta and kidrobot zipper pulls. 3- swatch watch. 4- iphone 4. 5- MAC cream cup lipstick. cute pink for everyday. 6- m0851 wallet. the best leather around. 7- leichtturm notebook for class notes. 8- wesc headphones (thank you tiger distro). 9- chanel nailpolish, particuliere. constantly destroying my nails and am not allowed chipped nailpolish at work. 10- and all of this in my fjallraven. best bag really., and designed so small school children (aka me) don’t have backaches from heavy junk.

aint no thrifting like miami thrifting. its just so much easier to come across amazing pieces while thrifting in the states; because for the most part its all virgin turf, seeing as people dont go as much, and those who do, don’t have good taste to say the least. running through the aisles in the flamingo plaza is quite the pass-time. whenever i’m in town, it’s the first thing i do after landing. pretty much all my favorite finds and staples are from here. once my sister even found a brand new bottega veneta clutch for dirt cheap (i guess they had never heard of it)!

a bunch of pals and i got together to put on a “super dope” vintage sale. we held the event in jo’s lofty open space, called COAT CHECK. we ended up being about 17 or so people selling mostly vintage clothing, with a side of cupcakes and special cookies. alex joined in to sell his vintage taxidermy, HERCULES TAXIDERMY, which is so beautiful, and what is going straight to the top of my birthday wishlist.

unfortunately, three uninvited guests showed up; hail/snow/rain, but the turnout was still great! it made me really happy to see some of my most prized finds bringing smiles to strangers and friends. good music, laughs, marley the kitty, and a strict cookie diet made for a nice day. hopefully more of these to come!

1. cab rides lalala 2. ellen gallagher @ moma 3. comedy/tragedy vintage ring i bought at brooklyn flea 4. ernest hon taking me around dumbo 5. eating at pulinos in soho 6. cute pairs of vintage earrings bought at brooklyn flea. i highly recommend going to brooklyn flea, as it is the best thing that has ever happened to me har har. 7 … my other endeavours which were not photographed were dorm hangouts and nyu parties, and a visit to the standard’s le bain. kindof a crap club, despite the ‘hype’ but its worth going just for the view from the terrace on top.

over the weekend i had what was essentially a “day” trip to new york; so short lived but a lot of fun nonethless. a friend now living in new york brought me to an area i’d never visited before, dumbo. its in brooklyn, right between the manhattan and brooklyn bridge, and is an annoying-tourist free zone! in i walked to an extremely well curated boutique called modern anthology, fully stocked with menswear (which girls do not deny buying), housewares and furniture. for the love of vintage, there was also a pop-up shop from brklyn dry goods. i stayed a while to smell the candles, and then stayed even longer to have a chat/become twitter buds with the extremely friendly staff!

my stomach has found it’s soulmate, chloe wise’ stomach. back in suite 88 yet again, to eat our combined weight in chocolate. or, better yet, the weight of her purse? i never realized how much alexander wang bags weigh! so, this cool chickie models for dulcedo, is owner of vintage shop NAUGHTY MESS on etsy, and is a really talented artist. remember this little guy sitting in my room (5th photo)?! yeah, she’s good. to catch more of her lush looks, check out her blog!

i received my impossible project polaroid film pack in the mail the other day and was super excited! first of all, really sleek packaging. the cost wasnt bad at all either! i especially got a great deal using a promo code. i remember i tried to purchase some film a while back but the shipping was ridiculous. now all of that has calmed down and this film ended up costing me 13$ shipping+tax included. holla! plus after you load each film pack, the paper that comes out always has some original text on it, a nice touch.

Arthur & Co. is an online shop selling homey, vintage, collectors type items. Those dusty miscellaneous objects you might not take much of a second look at in a Value Village, are presented in such glorious ways. I think Arthur & Co. does them, and their mysterious past, justice. Some I might have no real use for, but I would enjoy just putting them on my shelf to stare at, while taking a break from my eyes being glued to my textbooks (groan). Now craving going to a second hand store or an antique shop so hunt down some things of my own! Mmm (wishful thinking), back to my books!
