this months copy of japanese publication, popeye, is pages and pages of lowdown on what to do in new york. im really curious to read more because there are SO many nooks and crannies in that wonderful city, that every time i go, my trip is completely different. after im done with this mountain of work, i hope to put together a little guide of my favorite things in the city. heres a band i discovered last time i was there: newyorklovediary (뉴욕러브다이어리). check out my favorite song by them HERE.

i love a good print, and these walk-in-the-park shorts from rynshu ss13 are too yummy! i also really dig the shirt ..peek here. the collection was half badass biker (killer boots, variations on leather pants) combined with a more softy side, featuring butterfly prints and transparent/flowy material. i actually had the pleasure of seeing rynshu ss11 show in paris two summers ago. seeing my friends post their photos from the menswear shows and debaucheries going on right now is killing me! i vow that i will definitely not miss out on ss14!

garance dore was given a lady dior to document her adventures around tokyo. although not everyone has a dior purse they would dare to color, hammer and pin things to, i found this video (and in the end, the bag) to be really beautiful. that, and garance just has that adorable, french, carefree flair to her. i was super excited when i saw yoon (1:36) in this video as well! she is way too cool of a lady. i am actually enrolled in japanese summer school, and every so often we go on field trips. this week we went to the botanical garden and were given tours of the japanese gardens. i particularly enjoyed the tea garden (if you know me, you know how much i love tea), and i learned how to purify myself/ enter tea house, just like garance at 0:47.

kenta sawada shot this editorial around meguro (tokyo) for vendor, a japanese retailer to showcase the new ss12 pieces from the well received brands they carry : folk, arai tent, tilak, hobo, batten sportswear, nonnative, regal, comme des garcons man, todd snyder, junya watanabe, john smedley and klattermusen. i enjoy the lone traveler vibe these photos give off. i can relate- i like to wander by foot, for hours on end, take in a new city and enjoy my own company. i need a few extra credits so i’m enrolled in japanese classes for the summer. hopefully i will have time to go next year and do a little of my own exploring!

don't look back in anger camera life #3with hideaki hamada’s photos you can experience the pleasure of adorable children, without having to pick up after them, feed them, or bathe them ha. if there was an award for cutest kids of 2010, they would take the cake. soft colors documenting the family’s adventures on an array of pentax and lomo cameras for film, as well as a canon 40d and nikon d50. the picture above with the two rascals holding cameras reminds me of when i was a youngin’. as of 4 years old, i never left the house without my little camera. havent changed much since, although i really do wish my canon was in the shape of a purple spider..clothespin art #3

verbal and yoon are such an explosive, creative couple. as a result of yoon wanting to live in tokyo, they both started up ambush; an affordable jewelry line worn by girly girls and kanye west alike. they stated in an interview that they are always looking for something fresh and like pushing their style to new limits, but most of all having fun. on the side, they dj and make music and thats how this doc martens collab came into place with a cover of the runaways ‘cherry bomb’. you can catch verbal (of teriyaki boyz) on hypebeast, and the couple also has a blog section for vogue hommes japan. to hear more about them, here is an interview they did with hypebeast.

big tea drinker over here! my friend manar and i decided to make a matcha ‘tutorial’, so im sharing here! matcha is in powder form because it is grinded up tea leaves. this makes it a super healthy green tea because you are ingesting the leaves rather than just drinking the tea. high in antioxidants and high in caffeine (so good for exam period). to bring out the flavor and give it some more oomph, add honey or agave (i suggest agave). also yummy, add some cocoa or chocolate milk.

(1) get out your matcha! we used matcha matsu, because its a bit sweeter in flavor than organic matcha. (2) 1 teaspoon and a little water (3) get out your matcha whisk and mix until the powder blends with the water. if you dont have one, then use a fork. (4) add a bit more water and pour onto some ice (5) add some soy milk! (6) drink up, lil wuns.
