sunday was the official start of summer!!! all of montreal was out on the mountain having a blast, throwing frisbees, dancing to tam tams, and picnicking to the core. caught up with some of my best friends; yuchi (my handsome best bro) and rachel (who is living up the model life right now! so proud).
spring might be in full effect for all of you in happy places around the world, but we’re a little late on that one so please excuse my excitement. i go through this cray cray spring cleaning phase where i feel the need to get rid of all the clothes in my closet. that usually consists of me blindly selling off my prized possessions for 5$ at a “vintage sale”. as much as i like clothes, i dont like having too many at a time. RIIIIIIGHT. so as i proceed to give away my closet, here are the things i want to replace it with:
(1) a pair of super kawaii oxfords please. like these triple major x daniel palillo ones, or maybe some bright dr. martens.
(2) leather overalls. because they are leather overalls. but since i will be spending my summer partying and being poor and living off ramen (three very cool things) in duh korea i will probably just get denim.
would love to just chat and eat a hamburger with the owner of hellz bellz. lanie seems like a really humble kewl kitty. i’ll be honest, i haven’t really checked out or worn any hellz bellz since 3 or 4 years ago, but now that i have, this collection looks d0pe. how fun are the googly eyes?!?! and please sign me up for the junya mafia.
here’s a video from 2013 PROJECT MVMT, a playground for the influential brands pushing the envelope in streetwear right now. streethearts was a section showcasing the strongest womens brands floating in a sea of d00d apparel. check out the video from marcus troy TV:
really wish i couldve made it to seoul fashion week! i thought i would share photos from a few photo/online pals of mine that went and snapped some excellent shots; up coming street style photographer hyeonuk nam, james bent of mode outre (whose life i really wish i had), and the consistently delish photographer, seungjeom choi! korean style is just so on point with everything theyre doing right now and people in the industry around the world are starting to take notice! perfect balance of tailored/classic pieces and streetwear.
last week i attended a gala celebrating successful arab women, for which my mom was a nominee for one of the categories and an hommage award. since she couldnt make it, my sister and i had to accept the honor on her behalf so i wanted to look squeaky clean. had to sprint straight from work so i ran around the mall like a frantic headless chicken and came up with the outfit above.
aaaand on monday i went and got a tattoo i’ve always wanted; her name in arabic on my arm! first tattoo ever. i know i want a few more but less visible and only tiny ones. i think im already addicted.
for a while now i have been VERY into printed pants. although they might seem a little overwhelming at first, they are just too easy to wear. the right prints can be so versatile and can easily bring you from day to night, just like i did above. pair your wiiiild pants with a more neutral/comfy top for an easy coffee shop outfit (i actually took a nap on my laptop at bubble tea lounge..). i added my bright turquoise new balances for some extra comfort. switch to heels and a structured blazer for night, and voila. super simple.
obsessed with this collection and its only the beginning for this power trio. shin, lee and hong, under the moniker of BLND studio, create minimal, well structured art pieces that beg my wallet to be emptied. how do more people not know about this? i actually just want to own every piece. to see the full collection click here.
feeling so stuffy in montreal right now. everything is melting and grey, and all i do is run from job to job to bed to job. but my stylenanda girl crushes never fail to disappoint with their cheery spirit, “unbruised legs” (as per youtube commenter) and uhrrrmazing styling. makes me want to hop into a jumpsuit and onto a plane to slurp up some ice cream in LA.
i have a tendency to be overly spontaneous.. and as i walked in the bathroom and saw a pair of scissors i decided to chop off a bucket ton of hair. i was feeling pretty damn kawaii after that which i how i probably ended up in this varsity jacket and creepers. oh, and i now work part time at american apparel, along with my usual dentist job.. and since that means im working practically 24/7 one would think im saving up lot of money. that is not the case. boo, i suck.
i sortof disappeared for the month of december! sincere virtual apologies. its not so much new years eve (in fact i hate any event with that amount of surrounding expectations) but there is something always so refreshing about being given the chance to start over. so i was hoping YOU! my lovely readers could help me brush off some cobwebs of 2012 and kick into 2013 with brand spanking new boots. channelling my inner alice, i could probably do some damage.in fact, im writing to you from under a palm tree, morocco (read: bed, because i ate way too much) and yes, these do get through airport security..
there are 2 ways to get the best chrismukkah present you never got :
i will announce the winner on january 1st (probably from a hole in the wall internet cafe.. since i lost my laptop charger and there’s not an apple store in sight) !
best of luck, happy holidays, work hard / play hard and kick 2013′s BUTT!
honestly, so so so lovely for off the hook to feature me on their blog! i picked out a few items for my holiday wishlist (YAY). wanted to keep it simple, and this is similar to an easy everyday outfit for me!
by far one of the best boutiques in montreal, i’ve been shopping and attending off the hook’s events for a handful of years now, and its amazing to see how much its grown. from exclusive products to crazy instore events, the online shop, gallery and their eye-candy of a blog, its been an honour getting to know the off the hook family. the staff are passionate, knowleagable and particularly talented in their side projects, be it blogging or design. big shout out to harry (1/2 owners) for being the COOLEST GUY IN TOWN. for details of my wishlist, please visit off the hook’s website!
