this months copy of japanese publication, popeye, is pages and pages of lowdown on what to do in new york. im really curious to read more because there are SO many nooks and crannies in that wonderful city, that every time i go, my trip is completely different. after im done with this mountain of work, i hope to put together a little guide of my favorite things in the city. heres a band i discovered last time i was there: newyorklovediary (뉴욕러브다이어리). check out my favorite song by them HERE.

with the thought of my gpa constantly looming over my head, i’d say more than ever, i’m dressing for comfort. i had looked into buying nb’s a few times in beijing, but never actually went through with the purchase until now. with the help of my twitter + instagram + facebook amigos, i picked out this colorway of 574 new balances. not only am i loving this new balance video made by dee, im enjoying the revival of classic sneakers in a quirky, preppy way. throw on a quaint tee, some slacks, and a pair of fuzzy socks and you’re all set! ..pascal grob gets me!

meet the latest and greatest addition to the cute-objects-i-like-to-keep-on-my-desk club. this little guy is from the happy labbit series (as opposed to the not so happy smorkin’ labbits). mine came with a cigar, tongue, moustache and glasses, and bubblegum. purchased at kid robot in miami.

california-native, adri law, nonchalantly captures what it means to be young. i admire the carefree spirit of the photos, as well as how effortless they all seem to be. the photos reflect a sense of freedom in experimentation with style, and the quirks and character of each person really come through in her shots. adri is quite the looker herself. you can catch her working with the cobrashop, making jewelry or shaking it at shows. for more photos, click here, and for lawls with law, you can chase her on twitter.

highly anticipated visit to nota bene! if you haven’t figured it out yet, i’m a really huge dork and the queen of kitsch, so stationary is what gets me off. i also really like list making and doodling things i see around me. i don’t think my friends understand why i have drawings of fake boobie trannies from south beach or really hip babes from london doodled in my notepads. nor can i explain the amazing feeling i get when i make endless amounts of lists. ie. what to do this morning: wake up, brush hair (maybe???!!?!?), leave house.

anyway, i didn’t buy much, as i’m currently the winning bidder on a million moleskines on ebay. i usually use muji/kidrobot stuff. i did grab some fieldnotes pencils, a sharpener and some staples for this cute lil guy i got for christmas. aaand they have an art gallery on the second floor. nick and i proceeded to fall in love with the space, and asked if they’d be willing to let us move in.

don't look back in anger camera life #3with hideaki hamada’s photos you can experience the pleasure of adorable children, without having to pick up after them, feed them, or bathe them ha. if there was an award for cutest kids of 2010, they would take the cake. soft colors documenting the family’s adventures on an array of pentax and lomo cameras for film, as well as a canon 40d and nikon d50. the picture above with the two rascals holding cameras reminds me of when i was a youngin’. as of 4 years old, i never left the house without my little camera. havent changed much since, although i really do wish my canon was in the shape of a purple spider..clothespin art #3

so, i cleaned my room. i just got my shelves and magnet board put up, but its still not done. in fact, i dont think a bedroom should ever be “done”. this might explain why ive changed bedrooms 3 times in the past 5 months. i need to find the perfect plushie for my bed (xmas hint, hint). i also need to go back to that smelly st michel flea market. so much cool stuff, but last time i went my sister was going to pass out from the no air flow and creepiness of people selling things that people probably died loving. im taking my time with adding things to my room, and picking things really carefully. even if its the tiniest magnet im buying. this weekend i bought the moustached raccoon by chloe wise. most of you probably think its creepy that everything in my room is this white. sometimes i cant tell if im walking into the afterlife or my bedroom..

verbal and yoon are such an explosive, creative couple. as a result of yoon wanting to live in tokyo, they both started up ambush; an affordable jewelry line worn by girly girls and kanye west alike. they stated in an interview that they are always looking for something fresh and like pushing their style to new limits, but most of all having fun. on the side, they dj and make music and thats how this doc martens collab came into place with a cover of the runaways ‘cherry bomb’. you can catch verbal (of teriyaki boyz) on hypebeast, and the couple also has a blog section for vogue hommes japan. to hear more about them, here is an interview they did with hypebeast.
