over the weekend i had what was essentially a “day” trip to new york; so short lived but a lot of fun nonethless. a friend now living in new york brought me to an area i’d never visited before, dumbo. its in brooklyn, right between the manhattan and brooklyn bridge, and is an annoying-tourist free zone! in i walked to an extremely well curated boutique called modern anthology, fully stocked with menswear (which girls do not deny buying), housewares and furniture. for the love of vintage, there was also a pop-up shop from brklyn dry goods. i stayed a while to smell the candles, and then stayed even longer to have a chat/become twitter buds with the extremely friendly staff!

illuminati ams, from what i understand, is a dj collective based in amsterdam. it features dj jaziah and clubkids/models nianga niang and naleye junior. although i find the music a bit outdated- i won’t lie, the pairs good looks draw me right back in. i suppose thats what models are for right? creating a ‘fantasy world’ and the ability to sell anything. mixing music with fashion, i think, touches on a whole new set of taste buds. songs will just appeal to you in different ways. the video is great, and im curious to see whats to come.

montreal fashion week fw11

montreal fashion week was last week, and so were half of my midterms! i wasn’t particularly enthusiastic about any shows, but i quickly caught denis gagnon, a staple here in montreal. i pulled out my yeshiva chic card, and my trusty steed, ian, who kindly (saved my life/) helped me walk the cobblestone and icy streets. essentially, my favourite thing about fashion week is just seeing my friends all in one place. it was a surprise to see as many unexpected and familiar faces backstage in makeup.

when people think love, they also tend to think paris. when i think paris, i think macarons, debaucheries and colette. at the moment, all i can manage is the former. my sister received a lesson with a french chef/baker and together they made macarons (which are extremely difficult to get just right). now that we have all the equipment, we had a little test run. cute & yummy is why i love them. happy valentines day!

just in case that last post had you daydreaming way too much of summer, i decided to slap you readers in the face with some winter photos. this is how my friends and i brave the never-ending supply of canadian snow. the black wellies im wearing are courtesy of COUGAR- thank you! they’ve come loads in handy since they are good till -15 degrees.

if you’re on my end of the planet, then your frozen head, shoulders, knees and toes are probably hinting that it is not summer. but for my australian photoman friend ryan cantwell, its 1000% summer. so for the lucky bums at the beach, here’s a mixtape. he included some surprises that i used to not like, but taste buds change i guess!

this collection is pretty much me, in a nutshell. deep shades of berry, camo, peter pan collars and cozy cardigans! everything fits just right; its all about cozy casual. the shoes are also something i wouldn’t mind having in my closet. as stylecrusader pointed out, the details are what make these pieces. i too love the zips on the knees, the cute little buttons on the collars and the low neck lines.

my stomach has found it’s soulmate, chloe wise’ stomach. back in suite 88 yet again, to eat our combined weight in chocolate. or, better yet, the weight of her purse? i never realized how much alexander wang bags weigh! so, this cool chickie models for dulcedo, is owner of vintage shop NAUGHTY MESS on etsy, and is a really talented artist. remember this little guy sitting in my room (5th photo)?! yeah, she’s good. to catch more of her lush looks, check out her blog!

the best sound in the world is that little *DING* my macbook makes when i’ve got a new email. except when i get spam saying “hi this is (insert obscure foreign name) from (insert obscure foreign country), and i have £1,000,000 waiting in a bank for you”.. such a tease. besides that garbage, JEANS WILDER’S EP entitled NICE TRASH arrived in my mailbox! being one half of wavves, and besties with best coast, he’ll already have a niche well cut out for him. there are still the fuzzy lo-fi beach punk vibes, but he also takes things slower, with chillwave~ tracks like blanket mountain and in my dreams. can i just add, the sampling is redonk! if you’re a fan of millionyoung and best coast, then you’ll probably dig this too! released with the cool kids over at atelier ciseaux, you can buy it here, and there’s a free track below.
