it seems everyone is getting a taste of canadian winters lately, what with the end of the world approaching and all.. so, might as well say hello to 2011 in a nice coat rather than look like a frazzled mess. many variations of my favourite styles: the duffle, shearling, trench, and so on, in the dominant colors of my wardrobe: beige, grey, black. well done, margaret howell.

two new teas i randomly picked up. the first being baked apple, a fruit-based herbal blend, and the second being chocolate chili chai. my friend and i were recently having a debate about how these teas are ‘not the real thing’. well, as much as i do like traditional teas, i think these blends add more variation, not to mention fun, to tea drinking! i never really drink my tea in a mug, so this photo is deceiving. ill have to take a photo and show you my amazing glass travel mug!

there are few shops in montreal which offer such well thought and humble curation. kapok, recently cozying in to this side of the planet, is actually a hong-kong based shop. i was kindly greeted by big smiles from jeremy, a frenchman managing this segment of the business. in an interview, jeremy stated that the stock is chosen based on criteria which reflect
“craftsmanship, quality and creativity. classic lines but with a touch of originality in materials, flavour or conception and design. we try to find little brands with this kind of spirit, modernity but with tradition and nobility.”
and on that note, the simple and immaculate space carries really great brands, some which are otherwise impossible to get in this city. my eyes couldnt help but linger on all of the mismo bags- the construction of each bag is just too perfect. berangere claire for the gals, and bleu de paname for the boys if you’re looking into the perfect shirts. wool and the gang diy knitting bags are great gifts for anyone whos looking for a new hobby, or willing to sew that extra bit of love into their scarf. jeremy also shared with me of how he’d eventually like to turn one part of the space into a gallery, where an artist would be featured monthly or something like that. although ideas like this are still in the works, kapok is sure to pump out something exciting. shop online here or check out their blog here!
The Suzan are a boundlessly energetic all-girl band from Japan, and director Pomp&Clout perfectly captures their colorful, kinectic approach to music with his kaleidoscopic video for “Home.”

whipped this up in case you still weren’t sure what to buy for a lady friend, or what to put on that wishlist of yours. you can find wesleys holiday gift guide for men here!
with hideaki hamada’s photos you can experience the pleasure of adorable children, without having to pick up after them, feed them, or bathe them ha. if there was an award for cutest kids of 2010, they would take the cake. soft colors documenting the family’s adventures on an array of pentax and lomo cameras for film, as well as a canon 40d and nikon d50. the picture above with the two rascals holding cameras reminds me of when i was a youngin’. as of 4 years old, i never left the house without my little camera. havent changed much since, although i really do wish my canon was in the shape of a purple spider..

my friend wesley yendrys, who is a design student and also works for NEON, came up with this. you can follow him on twitter @wyendrys for updates about everything nice (sugar and spice). happy shopping, or drooling. ill be posting up a girls version, that im working on, really soon!
this is what i have to show for my short, but scrumptious love affair with my friends 7D. if you’re not a nerd, that means best-camera-ever! anyhow, just a few clips from street and then at the reborn sample sale. saw my babies: emily from want selling acne, filippa k, etc. and travis and raph of travis taddeo! these are actually just filler shots from a documentary i made with my pal sophie for a class; about blogging and how the internet propels trends. eventually we will post it up as well!
