marcel the shell
i love this video so, so, so much! directed by dein fleischer-camp, written by jenny slate + dein fleischer-camp. slate also did the voice for marcel and it was completely untreated and not enhanced, impressive!
NILS DUNKEL

even just through his photos, NILS DUNKEL‘s charm has totally rubbed off on me! probably got to do with the fact that he’s a total dreamboat along with being an insane multi-tasker. this 20 year old german boy toy definitely knows how to keep busy but also how to keep having fun. i caught up with him to see how his line ‘nils dunkel’ and how all his other projects are doing.
how did you decide on designing this line and why the use of animals? With my “Animal Collection” i just realised the idea of spreading my Art. the idea started with printing the animals on clothing via different copy shops, then my friends liked them, then the magazines and newspapers, then Europe
youre friends seem to be everywhere in your campaigns/photos. is that important to you? or just a coincidence. It is important to me that the whole project brings fun to anyone who is involved, so the fact I always have my friends with me increases the chances of having fun “24/7″ with it! Of course, if I did something mature, black and leather e.g., this wouldn’t have been the best choice.
you seem to not take things too seriously which is definitely a good thing. its always refreshing to see people having FUN with fashion. what pushes you to take this route? To be honest, this is the only way I can imagine doing a fashion project. And it surprised me when I saw all the other “professionals” with their well done work that had no character at all. Fashion should always be personal in a way. If more designers would keep this in mind, they wouldn’t be so sad.
also- you showed your last collection during the berlin fashion week at black box theater. you didnt do the traditional runway schema. how did you come up with all of this? I came up with this because it just didn’t make any sense to me doing some traditional runway show as I didn’t create any high fashion that is already more interesting than the person that wears it / will wear it itself. Doing a show at Black Box Theater gave me too many possibilities presenting the clothing in an “unexpected” way, so I just had to take the chance. And it was loads of fun!

model, designer, artist, photographer.. whats next?! The next big thing will be to FOCUS on Art! I am an artist in first place (and always will be) who does some modeling and has some kind of a fashion project. The photography is also an important part of my Art, especially when I am travelling, it’s the best alternative to painting on canvas.
favourite city in the world? Berlin for the people, Nice for the Côte d’Azur, Paris for the atmosphere!
what cd can you not stop playing on repeat as of late? My summer was POP (as always) with Kylie’s Aphrodite and Hurts’ Happiness! Fitted perfectly with Nice (Kyle) and Venice (Hurts)!
describe the perfect sunday. I am not too much into Sundays. Though, most likely I’d do new paintings …the whole day!

fashions night out
going with their philosophy of “live the life you love”, this photoshoot for barila was just that. my models (/friends) and i did the usual party thing while doubling as a shoot for one of montreals most loved designers. we were not really digging the photo taking that night, so our backup plan was just to have a great time. in the end i came up with these shots which are to be featured on her online pages. i loved seeing this collection on runway, in fact i love all barilas collections. comfy, but badass, but girly, but perfect. and speaking of which, barila will be closing this seasons ss11 montreal fashion week! ps: the male model below is a cute little guy named ivan who is signed to dulcedo; expect a part II with more photos of him soon! check the campaign video above with the likes of hatchmatik, kyle calma and other montreal darlings looking comely.
animal kingdom
cinderella is not the only one who’s little helpers now come in the form of animals. ange-line tetrault’s designs are so to my taste. all white ceramic tiny creatures that are not only fun to look at but useful as well; like a lion to guard your butter! although i must say i am in love with the entire collection, my favourite pieces are the ‘hidden animal teacups’ because im a huge tea aficionado. as you get through that delish cup of leafy green, a surprise animal pops out at you to say hello. what can i say, im easily amused. to see the rest, click here!

i am, am i, who am i
re-found this so im sharing. the much talked about channel on youtube, fantasy coming through your screen. there used to be hint videos here and there floating around, and much speculation as to who was featured in the videos. early on some said it had to be lady gaga, other delusional people thought christina aguilera. the identity obviously revealed for some time as jonna lee, a swedish singer; the series lives on.

my sister brought me to the rihanna/ke$ha concert. honestly it was my first bell center concert, and there are many obvious reasons of why i stay away from stadium shows like that. i had had a long day at work so i literally took a nap during ke$ha … im not a fan anyway, although i did like her fur hat at the end. ive been looking for one just like it. rihanna was fantastic. drop dead gorgeous, cute outfits the whole way through and i wasnt expecting much from her vocally but i was clearly mistaken. shes a babe and a half.

Oh and I recommend Chew Fu Remixes of Rihanna’s Rated R album, so here are some download links:

early bird

hang-outs with christopher mongeau. hes the boy with the big hat and the big camera from providence RI. chris is an arts major and also enjoys going on tour with bands as photographer. you can check out his website here, and his flickr here. he had just arrived to montreal after a long drive, and we both seemed to be more than half asleep. the obvious solution was tim hortons (a canadian coffee staple) and we got some delish ice caps to go. after a little walk, i decided it would be fun to go up to the top floor of hotel de la montagne.
it was closed but the janitor kindly let us sneak around for a little bit and soak in the gorgeous view of montreal waking up. its been forever since ive slept in and im really loving it. taking time in the morning to do something fun or for yourself is really nice and according to some study makes you a more productive person.
crop top – h&m, bracelet – gift from jac vanek
ps: im loving my herschel backpack no more shoulder and back aches from a 500 pound purse! cute little details i didnt notice till purchase: the red and white striped interior and the little pocket where i slip in my itouch. you can tell this backpacks mine from the kidrobot zipper pull; i love those things.
big and bold

designer mariel manuel has a very promising future in her fashion career. she was an obvious match when working with jeremy scott. inspired by her many travels, including those to africa, she gives life to the bold prints that are just as playful as mr. scotts. this young 22 year old has also scored the chance to design a line for weekday. manuel has recently won an award (the momu or mode museum specifically) so both her illustrations and designs will showing in the antwerp fashion museum.
