with a name like ryan the wheelbarrow and the most excellent mustache on the street (u.o cashier has second, changing room guy has third), expectations for his artwork can run high. luckily he owns up to whats expected and his job, working at kid robot, is helping him along the way. he asked me “how would you categorize my artwork” and as ryan thought, no answer came to mind. i can definitely say its visually appealing with everything appearing to melt and drip perfectly into place.
ryan the wheelbarrow went on to explain how his artwork doesnt require great resources at all. as seen with the drawings on the munny, he picks up a regular hb pencil and begins the process. if i understood correctly, this lack of resources is his inspiration unlike a forced theme or object of stimulus as he had to endure in school. the arizonan artists work is currently featured in an in-store gallery (kidrobot-miami) and is the beginning of more local and international artists who will have the same opportunity. ryan the wheelbarrow also does what he calls “fashion vandalism” and its done live as well; screen printing turned into a show. view his artwork here!
